January 23-26, 2019, New Orleans, LA – The College of Community Association Lawyers recently selected it’s presenters for the 2019 Law Review to be held in New Orleans, LA in January. Javier Delgado, Shareholder of Carpenter, Hazlewood, Delgado & Bolen was selected to present on the topic of dealing with legal matters, ethics and social media. CCAL provides advanced professional educational programs to its fellow, identifies, and contributes to the solution of community association challenges. It is a collegial forum for the exchange and development of ideas by some of the most knowledgeable attorneys in community association law.
In Javier’s presentation, he will discuss “When Your Case is in the Headlines: Keeping Your Head Ethically above the Social and Traditional Media Waterline”.
- Has your client’s case hit the news? With a rise in the number of community association matters in the news, if it hasn’t, it’s likely only a matter of time. This interactive presentation, offered in a “TMZ- style” format, complete with examples and commentary from a broadcast journalist, will critically examine the role of community association attorneys in managing the message when dealing with traditional broadcast and social media. This course will further examine the potential ethical pitfalls associated with the use of traditional and social media within a community association attorney’s practice.
Javier has extensive expertise in assisting boards with complex problems involving maintenance disputes, insurance claims, interpreting covenants, bylaws and rules, reviewing contracts, gaining owner compliance, dealing with owner versus owner disputes, addressing discrimination claims, and complying with state and federal law.
